India China upheaval : "Save the Himalayas"

Sadaket A Malik

Our countrys strategic and geopolitical policy is obsessively focussed on pakistan. The very recent incidents and upheaval between India and China along the line of control indicate our policy focus should  have always be China first as our adversary.

.  .  .  *The current geopolitical upheaval reminds us the suggestions of the socialists like Ram Manohar lohia and others as china being a major threat to india. The reminders of the socialists has not been taken care as a focus of south asian policy making and we have a nuclear power in our neighborhood and we remained clueless about on how to deal with it* in challenges like economic to stretigic viz a viz territorial. The chinese incursion contines along tve boarder besides the historical panchsheel (Five Principles of peaceful coexistence) signed between the two countries.
None of the socialists of Indian brand was taken seriously.
The socialists who warned India about Chinas enormous stretegic might
So, who are these leaders who warned India about China’s enormous might are firebrand socialist Ram Manohar Lohia, who repeatedly caution the then Indian premier Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru about China *when the euphoria of Hindi Chini Bahi Bahi was developing after chinas annexation of Tibet in 1950* Lohia was such a farsighted socialist who wanted a *Confederation of India and Pakistan*. He worked with Deen Dayal Upadhyaya in 1964 to counterbalence the might of China.  He warned that such an annexation will have serious political  repurcussions for India. His warnings remained in vein and was ignored. Despite the annexation of tibet the china has been very expantionist regarding North east Frontier Agency NEFA and Ladakh.

Lohia's call to *Save the Himalayas* is an eye opner and the programme need to been recaliberated at this juncture.
The lohias  call of  a conference which was also attended by former President Rajendra Prasad are the suggestive reminders of him against china.  Lohia said in his speech the Himalaya was no longer our protector, it needed our protection. The aim to  Save the Himalayas movement was to design a  long-term plan for strengthening the long Himalayan border from Kashmir to Arunachal Pradesh and working on such a plan cohesively.

Between 1962 and 1950, two firebrand leaders George Fernades and Malayam Singh Yadev cautioned about the drangon devil.

. .  .   The Indian brand of socialists has always been for the Nations interest and remained a farsighted towards the furture reprucussions.  The intellectual of socialist ideals has always been anti China and has exploded the myth against its alleged roots in China.

What we need at this crucial jucture is to have a unified force" besides the ideological differences and keeping aside the personal  interests for the containment of the China. This might be done with the collaborative efforts of other powers like US. The cantainment policy and focus on China centric foreign policy is urgently needed to cantain China. The suggestions put forth by the farsighted socialists and statesmen be kept in mind while recaliberating the strategic and geopolitical policy. India's boycot of the *One belt one road*is hureculean and a step to reinvision its foreign policy towards the rising china. A strategic pressure from the inyernational community is solicited to counterbalence china.
