Talking and Walking with Comrades : Excerpts of Student diary

Sadaket  Malik

JNU and other university students and scholars are not only blamed by right wing intelligentia but it has been under the radar of those practising "Identity Politics" prevalent in the country based on the alleged Caste descrimination as per them. Since the JNU mantra is also strongly opposed by the different Islamic schools of  thought for "alleged Fatwa that its teachings are contrary to the Islam pointing out that Marxism lead to Athism ! To explode this myth several Muslim students joining the ideology advoated Economic aspect of it to be very fruitful for the progressive Society and ending of expolitation of poor, bridging the gap between rich and poor.
The group quizzed by Intellectuals of the opposite classes are keen to get it away, the reasons as per them could be many :

1. "Continuation of the rule of superior over the inferior.
2. Athism :
3, Fear of a Class struggle and
4. Large scale mass awakening in the country.

Since, many people keeping in view the regional issues joined their own settings to get rid of the "athism" factor besides most of them advocates "Economic version of it"

How it happned ????

It was an era when people were devoid of educational necessities especially in Jammu region.
The College and university students pledged to initiate a new canvas of pressure groups to press for the rights of the students. The most important inspiration remained a Comrade of the time Comrade Krishan Dev Sethi of Pir Mitha jammu, a man who redefined the conception of control of means of production and paved a way for trade unionism supported by his media fellow Ved Bhasin, Editor of the Kashmir Times group of media. Most of the student leaders visit him after study hours of Jammu universiry probably at evening at the chamber spared by Kashmir Times for such brainstorming sessions to discuss the democratic ideals with intellectuals like Sethi Sahib and Abdul Majeed Khan, A trade unionist. We too spared many meetings with them. This paved a way to reinvision the conception of trade unionism in the state and Student leadership of 2004, when Rajiv Saraf was heading the Congress Student Wing NSUI, ABVP headed by Suresh Magotra and JJSF by Rajinder Jamwal. Since the left ideas born out at the varsity with Jammu and Kashmir Socialist Students Federation, Doda Joint Students Federation and many more. A student group of left conception was born out with the patronage of left intellectuals like K D Sethi. Since then we imbibed the adavantages of social control of means of production viz a viz a classless society.

Since the idea got further fillip when we met a group of JNU Scholars at JNU and LPU pubjab and the top brass of the different students organisations at national level to see the feasibality of the left future in India.
Since  some components of marxism was rejected at the very outset by our group and advocated the Economic aspect in indian settings to end the social and cultural hegemony without touching the religious and caste based interpretation in our settings. The question was as to how economic freedom is possible and how to bridge the gap between the rich and poor. That impressed the group.

Since the economic aspect is highly advocated
and need to be incorporated keeping in view
the huge diversity of Indian culture.

Are JNU Students creating awakening in
the country ?

The very recent victory of a particular ideological leaning in world famous Jawahar lal Nehru University (JNU) is an eye opener for the entire country. The recent victory of a particular ideological leaning is an answer for cohesive social order and a way forward for good governance. This indicated that social fabric of a Society and democratic institutions in this country need to be preserved from corporate hegemony and religious bigotry.
These frequent upheavals and a rising tide in democratic setup is a massage to emulate for the youth strata of our great nation, who were used and thrown by political mafia since time immemorial. The massage is clear, weather youth strata has been prey of religious bigotry, capitalist hegemony. The massage of youth encompases a system out of claws of fassiparious tendencies prevalent in the country.
The JNU Students groups has not only kept alive the democratic institutions but has by and large created a youth awakening in this country. Now the question is as to what extent such  lessons are emulated ?
Is this an early start of a socialist society or just a utopia, the creed of capitalism to be wiped with iron hands need a consistent resolutionary principles to destroy the repatriated building and create a new building at its place ? Indeed, the JNU upheavel is an effort to stem the rot.
We are living in a society where there is  no free market economy, no progressive approach towards working class, the wealth is distributed unequally, country is controlled by a few corporates, The purpose analysing indian society should be to end the hegemony over its youth by a selected corporate section that has been established by at the pattern of American capitalist system. Another roadmap and a point of contention that JNU scholars stress is a class expolitation and social expolitation of people belonging to the varying communities and regions, castes and diverse identies.
The primary objective of any revolutionary movement in india like of JNU should be completely directed towards eliminating the youth expolitation and class expolitation from this great nation, the other youth issues for JNU included overhauling Education system and fund cut in educational sector that has indeed lowered the GDP rates.
After more then 10 decades of independence, there is no substantial progress in eliminating the gap between rich and poor, it is evident from mass poverty prevailing in indian society and is a testimony of the age old expolitation by capitalist forces ruling the country, such coorporate hegemony is directly responsible for mass poverty and youth unemployment. Such practices are a form of globalised capitalism.
The JNU students movement is an eye opner for the entire sub continent youth strata to end the coorporate feudalism that has been still a bottleneck for progress and economic development.
Oflate, if emulated a lesson from JNU Students, there might be a paradigm shift of prevailing system and a new system will pave the progressive forces a way for new economic order.
With this in mind, most of the scholars and students got opposed by most of the ideologies and especially by the fact that Marx was an Athiest, some talked it as a danger to the unity of different classes of people as they had their own interests.Skipping the same the scholars joined issues of regional concerns with a slogan of  "Lal Salam to Darood o Salam.
